Temu credit chaining: what happens when credit earns more credit?

Editorial review: 2026-10-07·By Jakub R.

Paying with Temu credit can earn another promotional credit reward when your particular offer accepts that payment. Our editor Jakub reports a completed 7,200 Kč credit-funded purchase that returned 5,400 Kč in credit. He then received the same offer again. That round used no new cash and reduced his credit balance by 1,800 Kč.

This changes the comparison between cash back and store credit. A calculation that assumes you spend the reward on an ordinary, unrewarded order misses the benefit of another qualifying round. It also misses the cash or credit needed to meet that round's threshold.

Our completed 7,200 Kč / 5,400 Kč case

Jakub reported these figures on 7 October 2026:

ItemAmount
Purchase paid entirely with existing Temu credit7,200 Kč
Credit reward received after that purchase5,400 Kč
New cash used for this round0 Kč
Net credit balance used1,800 Kč
Credit returned relative to purchase amount75%

The evidence is his firsthand account of payment and receipt. We have the earlier offer screenshot described in our 5,400 Kč case study, but no published transaction screenshot for this completed round. His latest report establishes the account outcome; it does not identify a universal promotion code or supply all the campaign rules.

The new offer is available on his account. He has not reported completing that next round. If it again requires 7,200 Kč, the 5,400 Kč just returned leaves a 1,800 Kč funding gap. Existing credit can cover that gap; otherwise he needs new money. Calling the first round “no new cash” describes its payment, not the origin or value of his earlier credit.

Cash back versus one use of credit

In a Reddit discussion about Temu promotions, u/ArdougneSplasher describes a $620 purchase offering either $350 cash back or $400 store credit. These are that user's reported options, not prices or offers we verified on Jakub's account.

  • With $350 cash back received, the buyer's net cash cost is $270 for a $620 basket. The discount against that basket price is 350 / 620 = 56.45%.
  • With $400 credit spent later on an ordinary order, the buyer pays $620 cash for baskets priced at $1,020 in total. The discount across those baskets is 400 / 1,020 = 39.22%.

Those calculations assume comparable prices and that the buyer values all the goods. Fees, inflated promotion prices and unwanted items reduce the benefit. A regional cash-payout offer is also distinct from ordinary Temu wallet credit, which Temu says cannot be withdrawn as cash.

The post says a credit reward of about 92% of the original spend would match its cash option. Its own one-use model requires more: C / (620 + C) = 350 / 620, so C = $803.70, or 129.63% of the initial $620. That comparison changes again if the buyer can earn rewards while spending C.

Credit chaining changes the calculation

Consider a hypothetical offer returning 100% of a $100 purchase in credit. You pay $100 cash and receive $100 of goods plus $100 credit. If a second offer accepts that credit and returns another $100, you receive another $100 of goods while retaining $100 credit. Spend the final credit on a normal order and you have $300 of goods for $100 cash: 66.67% below the combined basket prices.

Without the second reward round, you would have $200 of goods for $100 cash: a 50% discount. The extra round accounts for the difference. It requires a qualifying offer, credit-funded payments that count toward it, and receipt of the next reward. It is not evidence that every Temu campaign accepts credit.

At Jakub's 75% return, an equal-size repeat uses 1,800 Kč of net credit each time. Repeating a 7,200 Kč purchase does not become self-funding with only the previous 5,400 Kč reward. Smaller baskets may not reach the offer's threshold. Use the numbers from the next offer rather than assuming you can shrink every round by 25%.

Compare offers by the cash you add and the credit you keep

Keep a short record for each round: goods received, credit used, new cash paid, reward actually received and ending credit balance. Treat shipping, taxes and any non-qualifying checkout charges separately. Do not count a pending reward as a wallet balance.

Check the payment-method and minimum-spend rules before ordering. Compare the same items outside the promotional menu. A larger credit reward is useful when it funds purchases you intended to make; a cash reward gives you more freedom over the next purchase.

The Reddit comments also disagree about refunds. One user says a seller cancellation stopped good offers; another reports keeping a PayPal reward after seller refunds and continuing to receive promotions. Those accounts do not establish an automatic refund penalty or a fixed recovery period.

Use our credit calculator for a single offer's remaining spend and cash-versus-credit comparison. It does not model a series of repeated rewards. Read the 5,400 Kč case study and WinCredit guide for campaign progress and claim steps.
